Issue 16 takes heat as its organising idea — not warmth, not comfort, but the kind of energy that precedes change. Tension before release. The pause before the pour.

Cloth cut and shaped under pressure. Resilience in the face of a hostile world. An imagined journey beyond the atmosphere, where the familiar becomes strange. The slow turn of seasons, which always arrives later than you expect.

In each of these, tea appears as the constant — the thing that holds its shape while everything around it shifts. Not as symbol, but as fact. A cup of something made with attention, in a moment that asks for it.

This issue marks a shift in how Eighty sees its own work: more concentrated, more considered, more willing to sit with difficulty and find the light in it.
